WWI Program

Date: April 11, 10 am – 2 pm

Come to the fort to learn and interact with World War 1 reenactors, who will make a small “campsite” on the grounds. Discover what it was like in the American army during this major world conflict and tour the museum and gift shop before our official opening.

Opening Day

Date: May 2, 10 am – 5 pm

Join us for the first day of our 2026 season! Explore the museum, see new archaeological developments happening at the fort, and listen in on the Speaker Series event happening in the theater.

Speaker Series, ft. Alan Fitzpatrick

Date: May 2, 11 am – 1 pm

Fort Laurens welcomes back well-beloved author, historian, artist, and lecturer, Alan Fitzpatrick, at the Fort Laurens theater.

Fitzpatrick will lead an in-depth discussion of the momentous, irreversible events occurring in what was called the Ohio Country during the mid to late 18th century that re-shaped and changed forever the lives and traditional culture of the indigenous tribes living there. The talk spans the years from the eve of the French and Indian War till the American Revolution in the West and reveals the major overwhelming factors threatening tribal presence and cultural cohesion.

All Speaker Series events are free and open to the public with free parking at Fort Laurens Museum.

Revolutionary War School Day

Date: May 22, 9 am – 2 pm
Tickets: Adult-$7, Student-$7, Children under 5-free admission, One free adult ticket per group

Students between fourth and eighth grade can experience history on the front lines and learn about life on the frontier during the American Revolution!

Discover how early American settlers lived through interactive stations and demonstrations that cover Revolutionary War history, local Ohio history, and more. This event is open to public schools, private schools, and homeschoolers of all ages.

All activities meet Ohio educational standards. The cost of the school day is $7 per student. Admission is free for one adult per group, with additional adult tickets priced at $7 each.

Revolution on the Tuscarawas

Date: May 23, 10 am – 5 pm & May 24, 10 am – 4 pm

Tickets: $10 – Adult, Free for children 12 and under

Join us for our annual Revolutionary War reenactment and encampment featuring volunteer reenactors from the Brigade of the American Revolution! Watch a mock skirmish for American Independence, learn what life was like in the 18th century, and interact with a variety of different demonstrations, including music, artillery, cooking, and medicine. Food, vendors, kids’ games, and many other family-friendly activities will also be available.

Admission is purchased at the door and is priced at $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under. All proceeds go towards the preservation and educational efforts of Fort Laurens.

Archaeology School Day

Date: October 2, 9 am – 2 pm
Tickets: Adult-$7, Student-$7, Children under 5-free admission, One free adult ticket per group

Celebrate National Archaeology Month at Fort Laurens!

Public, private, and homeschooled students of all ages will learn the importance of archaeology, how it is conducted, and how it affects other fields of study. Students can participate in a variety of activities, including a hands-on mock archeological dig, educational presentations, and museum tours where they can learn local history and view Revolutionary War artifacts.

Fort Laurens is a Revolutionary War historical site and museum in Bolivar, Ohio. This site is a nice addition to any day trip to the area. Its location is convenient to nearby Historic Zoar Village as well as shops, restaurants, museums, theaters, gardens, and wineries.
